I was commissioned by a Canadian advertising agency to photograph a feature for Acura Precision Magazine at an Acura dealership in New Jersey. The assignment called for a day-in-the-life approach, combining environmental portraits of General Manager Tom Alfinito with photographs of the sales and service teams, dealership operations and details throughout the facility.


The story focused on how the dealership was using Acura’s courtesy vehicle program as part of its broader business strategy. Our job was to create photographs that supported the story while giving the magazine a varied collection of people, place and automotive imagery to work with.

Behind the Assignment


With the dealership operating normally throughout the assignment, we kept the production small and mobile. After scouting the facility, we selected several locations for Tom’s environmental portraits and then moved between the sales floor, service areas and other parts of the dealership as the day unfolded.


Working this way allowed us to create polished portraits alongside more observational photography while keeping disruption to the staff and customers to a minimum.

Environmental Portraits & Dealership Photography


The finished photography combined environmental portraits, workplace imagery and automotive details to give Acura Precision Magazine a varied set of images for the feature. The goal was to show both Tom and the larger dealership operation, from the people working in sales and service to the details that help establish a sense of place.

Editorial & Commercial Photography


Editorial assignments like this require more than the time spent behind the camera. Location scouting, scheduling, lighting and coordination with the client’s creative team all play a role in creating photographs that tell a story and work across print, digital and marketing uses.


I’m a Philadelphia-based commercial and editorial photographer working with companies, agencies and publications throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey and beyond.
