Editorial Portraits for DHL Delivered Magazine

I collaborated with an advertising agency in Hamburg, Germany on an editorial portrait assignment for DHL’s Delivered magazine, photographing Matt Schwartz, then Head of Global Logistics at Bristol Myers Squibb, at the company’s Princeton, New Jersey facility.

The assignment called for a series of environmental portraits to accompany a feature on pharmaceutical logistics and the complexities of managing a global supply chain.

Environmental Portraits on Location

After scouting the facility, we selected several locations that would give the magazine a range of options, including two environmental setups and a more controlled portrait photographed against a gray canvas backdrop.

For one of the environmental portraits, I wanted to convey the activity surrounding Matt while keeping him as the visual anchor. The final photograph was created from several exposures, incorporating people moving through the scene while Matt remained still.

The final portraits gave the magazine a mix of environmental and more controlled imagery for the feature, with photographs designed to work across both the editorial layout and accompanying story.

Editorial & Commercial Portrait Photography

I photograph editorial and commercial portraits for publications, agencies and companies, working on location to create imagery that fits the subject, environment and needs of the assignment.
