I was commissioned by Real Woman Magazine to photograph U.S. Olympic fencer Kat Holmes at Princeton University’s Jadwin Gymnasium as she prepared for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
We had roughly one hour with Kat and needed to create several distinct portrait looks within that time. With a short shooting window, planning the lighting and locations in advance was an important part of keeping the production moving while still creating a varied set of photographs for the magazine.

The finished portraits were created for a feature on Kat Holmes and her pursuit of an Olympic gold medal with the U.S. Women’s Fencing Team.
Editorial & Commercial Portrait Photography
Editorial assignments often require creating several useful photographs in a relatively short window. Careful planning of locations and lighting allows the shoot to move efficiently while still giving editors and creative teams a range of options for print and digital use.
I’m a Philadelphia-based commercial and editorial photographer working with magazines, agencies and companies throughout the Philadelphia region, New Jersey and beyond.
